UniCompartmental Knee Replacement

(Yes There Are Alternatives To High Tibial Osteotomy)

UniCompartmental Knee Replacement

I have been taking questions from many parts of the world since beginning my Website in September of 1995. One of the comments that I keep hearing when people are describing their knee problems, is that they have been told there is nothing to do until they are old enough for a Total Knee Replacement. Or that the tibia bone should be broken and realigned to put the weight on the other side (High Tibial Osteotomy). Many questions center around the  technology of Cartilage Regeneration which can be found elsewhere in my website.

There is another alternative which in many of the descriptions of knee problems that people give, sounds quite viable to me. Yet when I write email correspondences back, this alternative has never been mentioned, this being a partial (Uni, Hemi, Half) knee replacement. This is an alternative when most of the problems are on either the inside or outside half of the knee.. This of course is similar to that for High Tibial Osteotomy but these questions are coming from what I would term the middle aged group say 45 - 65 years old.
